DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?
I am an out-of-network provider which means I am not currently contracted with any insurance plans. I can, however, provide you with a “superbill” at the end of each month of service that includes proof of payment and diagnoses code. Most insurance companies offer reimbursement at a certain percentage for mental health benefits depending on your plan.
If you would like to know what your specific plan covers call and ask the following questions to your provider:
-At what percentage do you reimburse for mental health services?
-Does my deductible need to be met first?
-How do I submit a superbill?
-How long does it take to get reimbursed after a superbill is received?
-Is there a cap on the number of sessions I can be seen by this out-of-network provider?
ARE SESSIONS IN PERSON OR VIRTUAL?
Due to Covid constraints over the past couple years, my practice went entirely virtual. I use a secure HIPPA compliant telehealth platform. I plan to open in person in the Phoenix area sometime in 2023.
I'VE NEVER BEEN IN THERAPY BEFORE. WHAT IS IT LIKE? HOW CAN IT HELP ME?
Good therapy should be like having a conversation with a deeply trusted friend or confidante but the difference is a therapist has no personal connection or knowledge of the people in your life beyond what you tell her so the feedback is objective. A good therapist should hold up a mirror to show you the way you are operating in the world in a way a friend or family member often can’t because of the investment he or she has in your relationship.
Therapy can help by providing you a non-judgemental space to explore what’s on your mind and heart—to get honest about what’s not working in your life and collaborate with a trusted and trained professional on how to make actual change. Dare I say it-- you might just enjoy this process! Yes, it takes hard work to dig into uncomfortable emotional issues but we will have great conversation and laugh along the way too. It should feel like a good workout: potentially strenuous while you’re in it; but produces feelings of accomplishment and fulfillment afterward.
HOW DO I KNOW IF YOU'RE THE RIGHT FIT FOR ME?
You won’t until we actually talk and/or meet a few times. The first step is calling for a consultation. I encourage you to do this with a few therapists you find in your internet search or those you were referred. You should feel comfortable, like you actually enjoy talking to me. In reality, a fit with a therapist is a very elusive subjective feeling. You should feel understood. You shouldn’t feel judged. You should feel like you’re really being seen for the person you are. If you have a session or two and it’s not clicking for you—tell me and we’ll figure out what’s getting in the way or I’m happy to refer you to someone else.
HOW LONG AND HOW OFTEN DO WE MEET?
The quickest most consistent results come if you’re generally able to meet once a week. If we determine you need more or less when we meet, we can adjust accordingly. I do not “require” anyone to meet with me weekly. I am a resource here for you to address whatever is going on and only you can determine the urgency and consistency to which those issues need to be addressed. I can only give my recommendation as to what it seems you need but ultimately the decision and financial commitment is your choice.
DO YOU SEE COUPLES, FAMILIES AND/OR KIDS?
I facilitate couples and/or family sessions for individuals I am working with if it pertains to their content and progress. I do not treat kids.
